Why are most hybrid cars so ugly?

August 28, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

If you are like me, you have probably wondered why hybrid cars are so ugly. Although some companies have started to produce decent looking models, it is still a question that haunts me. Why would car companies be producing ugly ducklings that people are not likely to buy? Would it not make sense to offer cars that look more like existing models? After thinking about it, I believe the reasons might involve pressures from governments and the impact of sales on their other fossil-fuel powered vehicles.

So what kind of pressures are car companies facing from various governments? What impact do hybrid car sales have on their existing business? Will they really be making money from selling such type of cars? All these questions need to be kept in mind to really see what is going on. Some have a greater impact on their business than others.

The Google movie and obsession with startups

August 21, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Google faviconIt seems as if we are obsessed with success of technology start-ups that have changed the way we live our lives. It makes perfect sense since this company has had such a huge impact on our lives, much more than Facebook or any other Internet websites. With that said, I have been asking myself a question. Are we getting obsessed with small-time operations that became extremely successful? This also leads to another question – why?

Credit history check for employment

August 16, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Have you ever gone to apply for a job and were surprised to find out that your employer wants to do a credit history check on you before you can be hired? I went with my sister because she wanted to apply for a job and on the application, it asked for permission to run her credit history. This got me thinking about the reasons a business has to run credit checks on people that apply for a job. I mean, its understandable that an employer has to do a criminal background check to find out if the person they are looking to hire is reliable. I just do not see a reason for anyone to be running a credit check on the people who apply for jobs.

Why buying bottled water is a bad idea

August 9, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

water bottlesThe idea of having water in a bottle is great. Its portable and can be used to quench your thirst any time you feel the need. But is buying it in little plastic bottles really what we should be doing?

There is definitely a need to have bottled water with you if you are going on a jog, in the hot Sun or just about anywhere else. Although bottled water makes our lives easier because its highly mobile, you should look at something other than buying it in plastic bottles.

Not only is having water in a plastic bottle bad, businesses are completely ripping you off and laughing all the way to the bank while doing it! This business idea boomed in the 1990s when people started buying bottled water in bulk. Ever since then hundreds of companies have entered this arena to make billions in profits.

August 5, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Most people are not aware that every time they buy something at a store, their habits are being watched closely and analyzed by data miners. There is a huge market for finding out what consumers are buying so they can be sold more of what they are buying, thus successfully increasing profits for the company.

I was buying groceries at a local Target store just a couple days ago when I noticed a trend in prices. Many of the smaller things in the frozen foods section were listed as $2.09. Seeing this got me wondering about how they reach that conclusion. I mean, they could have set the prices lower, higher, or even different from one another, but no. They wanted to use the price of $2.09 and I wanted to know why!
